A majority of all the cards in the deck fit into one of three categories, non-human swarm cards, chunky humans that are great to flip into, and finally support cards that either protect us or hinder the opponents
It doesn't copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or any Auras or Equipment attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its types, color, power and toughness, and so on
The Sapphire/Steel deck accelerates resources to cheat out big characters early, the Emerald/Ruby deck had lots of character removal and ways to steal Lore from the opponent, and the Amber/Amethyst deck had lots of card draw and could pull off many tricks and combos
Alternatively, something like Search the Premises is more than enough to make opponents hold off on you if there's an easier target to hit
